One and Only Hotel of Cape Town

I recently had the amazing oppertunity of going to the world famous Nobu Restaurant situated at the One and Only hotel, Waterfront in Cape Town.

Here is some back round information before I go into the incredible experience I had there.

The One and Only is owned by Sol Kerzner, a luxury hotel and casino magnate. The hotel is in the hub of the Cape Town waterfront and once inside the walls you feel like you have left the rest of the world behind and only total luxury consumes you. A bit different from the hustle and bustle of the Cape Town CBD only a couple of 100 meters away!!

I got to test the hotel and its facilities out before its launch. So we really did indulge in every fantasy of food and decadence, to experience it all. We stayed in the island hotels suites, over a bridge and the canal. The bathrooms were big enough to have a party inside! Instead we had girlie weekend, myself with one of my close girl friends! We had treatments, facials and massages in the tranquil Spar ... it was ALL available to us!

3 Friends (David Donde and Joel Singer from Origin coffee and Marisa Sarfatti) and I booked for the Famous Nobu Restaurant on Saturday night - owned by Robert De Niro, Meir Tepper, Richard Notar. Already expectations were high having a movie star's name in there!

We started off with Japanese style cocktails and then moved onto Sake - Japanese rice wine, either served warm or cold, we had both. Sake is delicious and really is good with sushi! Mmmm.

We did not know what to order so we asked the manager to recommend us dishes and keep the sushi coming. And he id!!

What an unbelievable manager!! Really excellent, thought he was doing it only for us and he must have given the same attention to a few tables!

One after another the Sashimi ( (my favorite) came out... Each plate individually seasoned to perfection with lemon grass, basil leaves, chilli, sweet jams, asparagus and much much more, none of the soya and wasbi we soo used to (&love)!

Only 1 problem was that by the end of the meal I wanted to burst, because I did not say no and just kept on going, think I became a silent bloated fool ... only lucky that I did not pop! Its not worth the over indulgence - really, even if its that good!

This Restaurant comes highly recommended from a person who loves to eat well!! Outstanding!

Your Tourist Directory in South Africa

Just gone live with the new site Tourist Directory for South Africa. Its just the start and very happy that finally its live. Still lots to change and make better ...

acually some peops have had a problem viewing the site. Not sure why, and everyone see's the site differently - I think its cause i am using firefox and people are having problems when using Internet explorer. Some cant open certain pages and others have said that they can see all the sponsors on the side bars are ontop and over lapping eachother. Geez, i need a full time person, just for my hobby!

I have a few brains that I can pick around me - to find out the why's. But on my laptop it seems to look good, even if I am the one that says so :)

This site basically encourages other services/hotels/ guest houses/ back pakers/adventure sports/ museums/ attractions etc etc etc in the tourist industry to advertise their services for free on this directory.

The whole idea is that I wont have to do all the work - and people from the tourist industry can upload their details themselves.
I check it in the back-end and make sure that its entered into the correct category, then press the approved button.

There is still much needed correct and true information needed for services in South Africa. So maybe this one , can make a difference.

Shells and other pretty things

The sandy, shelly beaches in Sea Point are my favorite.



Everyone has their favorite beach in Cape Town and we have quite a variety to choose from. I love dipping my hands into the shells and sand mix. Picking up a hand full of colourful mother of pearl colour shells.



Spreading my fingers so that the light filters through them and all the big pieces fall leaving only the smaller ones. Grab another handful & repeat.



I just love the sunset from this beach, on the rocks and the sea gulls & is home.

Its a hidden secret amoungst the Sea Point locals.

Facebook status is my new media addiction

Who cares what my Facebook status says anyway?

Does it matter if I have flu yesterday and today love vanilla flavored coffee - does it matter if its true - ha ha it is true tho. Does ANYONE OUT THERE actually care?
I hear only silence and Therefore in conclusion - NOoooo nobody cares and this is only for my world.
If someone wanted to take a peak I guess then they would be able to access the daily dribble of my life. Easy Peasy lemon squeesy, there you have it.


What happened before Facebook, that was not even so long ago. I remember those care free days when I was the last one to know about anything web related and would not consider buying a laptop, never mind writing about myslef and publishing it.

And now even I do it - I change my Facebook status regularly, why? Is it the addiction that takes over and I feel an urge to let others know that my life is going super! I think that us humans are trying to reconnect with people.. only its difficult for some to say, 'lets meet for coffee' its just easier to Skype someone and say 'hi'. Keeping the contact with out having to make an effort or get out of your comfort zone - in front of my computer is safe and keeps my identity real. It's come to even using online means - cause texting is too personal and close to home!

I seem to be bobbing about with this, but guess that's the point in some ways. Maybe, this is just the beginning and Facebook will soon have to have an age limit, one will have to sign an indemnity saying that you don't have any psychological disorders that can be triggered through group stress or on the header bar will read, 'Warning Facebook is addictive and can cause ulcers.'

All I know is that I just changed my status again and either I think I am pretty damn hot and someone cares what I am doing and saying or I just am to far up my own a**!

Now how does this revelation relate to marketing ... hmm think pretty obviously.

Heat Wave in CT

There definitely was something going on .. after I just wrote last and now we are looking at a fabulous 38 degree day in CT!!


Heat wave CT - people always say, every year, 'December is the hottest time and true summer has arrived'.. but Nooooo its not Dec, I keep saying it. Feb and March, Im telling you is REAL Summer!!

A Crazy Life - 3's bad luck

What a day, yesterday!

I am sure that the energy was moving yesterday in a wild twist on planet earth. In the air, I could smell movement and made me think that there was something going on then slowly the day unfolded and revealed itself to myself and to others with similar experiences.

I know that what ever happens is 1stly meant to be and 2ndly cause and effect reactions, we are all connected to this earth in our physical forms.
Its hard not let this physical world take over and some people truly believe that this is all that there is eg. money, work, people, things.
I on the other hand, know that there is a greater 'game', 'consciousness','magic'or what ever other invisible words there are to describe it. A swirling power and energy- that directs this earth naturally.

And yesterday, was one of those days that would turn things right angle / 180degrees, a quick shift. I felt it! The day was not like any other... one just had to smell it out. Not only was my day filled with emotional high's and lows, but my very good friend had a rough one 2 (many have said that she is psychic!).

Of course it all happens for good reason and a lesson will be learned.
Still weird how these things happened.

She left the house, late and got money to pay the house cleaner. After stepping into her car, a bus driving very fast(100km/per hour as described) rammed into her half open front door- and left it hanging unable to close. Shook up and pissed off, she took all details down, went to the police station and then late to work. By 12 am she got a call from a friend in JHB to say that a school colleague had passed away that evening, ah no! By 3pm, after much turmoil at work for the past months, the team was called into a meeting to tell them that none of them will have their contract renewed and they don't have to come back to work from tomorrow!

What a day - all on the same day, not even separated by a day, why yesterday?

The mystery of the smile

I think that the saying should go, 'A smile a day, keeps the doctor away!'

The mind is an amazing thing. It is the creator of that hurting sensation in the body physically and emotionally, and it burns the heart… and makes one want to scream with anguish and pain. It also allows us to see the good in everything and lifts us up and makes the sides of our faces turn up. A smile can mean so many different things…

But the smile I am talking about is the one that makes you giggle to yourself by yourself. A rush that starts in your tummy and climbs up and up to your heart then, through your neck –that relaxes and finally to your wrinkles around you mouth … we lift it up and smile!

I am such a girl, somebody says something nice to me and I am on cloud nine, and when someone does something mean… can leave me down in the dumps.
But it just takes that one little thing, and I am back up there believing that this world is just and good.

David Deida - listening and typing with inner-peace

I have been listening to some lectures on my ear phones at work by a David Deida. Listening and working. Ear phones for this kinda stuff is a must! Stop Mp3, type mail, Start, type and listen. Write mail to clients.Write this and listen .. hope that it all makes sense. Send.

Very interesting idea's on how to's and dont's in life ... interesting to incorporate in your life. I am laughing and going Ahhhhaa all at the same time. I wonder if anyone around me can tell the kind of lectures I am listening to.

I get the feeling that he would feel strongly with Freudian theology. Sex is apart of our everyday thinking and actions ... and there is nothing that any of us can do about that! There is a way to use this energy to create peace in your world(like I am doing right now, listening an writing with inner-peace).

Very interesting and inspiring to reach a level that, in his words you ...., "Open yourself up to G-d".

David Deida gives every person the ability to be powerful and feel a knowing that we are doing the right things to make our realities peaceful (not euphoric, or heavenly, blissful, in love drifting or all those other big words that is not a reality)!! We can create happiness and success in all areas!

Its so funny how some things are just so simple, aren't they!

Printing Frustrations - The short Story

What is up with the level of service out there?

Is it a South African way of doing things? Frustrating ha!

Maybe, I should chill out in this Mutha city, or maybe I should go on a long holiday to somewhere tropical... either would help!I am going with tropical holiday :)

I mean really, who wants to work anyway? That's the feeling that most individuals have when they get to work. I understand not wanting to work at work. I have been employed more than I have been the employer. One comes to work and does not really care if customers are happy or not, you just try put out a couple of fires as best you can, then prey the end of the day comes quickly in the interim.

The reason for this post is an experience that seems to be replaying itself with print houses out there and there is ALWAYS some problem!

Hypothetical example:
- Sent to be printed on a designated time,
- They fit it in and agree that is will be completed and delivered by 1st thing tomorrow morning!
- The job now sits in their holding cells, cause the invoice needs to be sent - but the computers are down (or something).
When I call to ask what happened,they say that the invoice has not been printed and cant be because computers down and therefor they cant deliver the job.

Who's fault is this, mine?

So now I sit and wait for them to get it together. At least comfortably and yes over looking the deep blue ocean and the solid mountains ...

Design your self new - positive energy in business

So interesting how there are so many opportunities out there to make money... guess you just have to take one big step and 'Just do it' as Richard B says. Make it all happen. This world can be manipulated however our minds choose and finally, we are the creators of our own destiny. I believe that!

People are supplying services to people who provide services to those people who supply services and the list goes on. But how does one business make it out there in this big tough world. Well, I have heard Patience, Dedication, Belief are a few that ensures that you get there and keep on top of it!
But I really believe that positive energy is the way to go. It really works. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed and things go badly, but why? Go for a long walk in the evening on the Sea Point promenade in beautiful Cape Town and the world opens its self up to you!

Here we are now. Learning! How to navigate our business, finding new paths that help us achieve an ultimate goal.

What is the Ultimate goal - happiness/ contentment, a sense of achievement!

Like one begins the thought process of designing the Ultimate Scratch card lol :)
First the idea concept is created, then written down - if not the designer would not understand all that you had in mind for your ultimate scratch card!
Then a collective of colours and styles are researched. The designer begins to place all the graphics on the page and mixes them around. shuffle here, increase decrease size there... and finally settles on a thought. But the scratch card still has much work... and finally we need to put it out there into the world and believe that it will be the biggest and most sensational idea of all time.

Design your self new, create, learn and think with your heart and head. Believe that what ever you set your mind to... can and will happen.

2009 Marketing scratch cards

It feels like its been ages since I last wrote and so much has happened.
2009 is upon us and wont stop, even if I really could do with another week relaxing on the beach.

What does scratchcard.co.za have in mind for 2009? A whole bundle of exciting projects... starting now, go!

I intend to dive straight back into things and ensure that no place wanting to promote or sell services with scratch cards don't know about the brand 'Scratchcard.co.za'. I figure that I have a competitive advantage having the internet as a marketing medium! So 'how', you ask do I plan to promote the use of scratch cards?

Marketing is not an exact science. Just because I hand out leaflets, flyers, advertise in newspapers or have business meetings with good intent, this does not mean necessarily that I get the order! But I truly believe in positive energy. Somehow, the more you do, there more happens, the more positive energy follows you . Keeping busy with things that gives my life meaning can have a positive effect on my business. Yes, go to the beach, take up pottery and go to the gym on top of setting meetings and doing marketing will create a spin off effect!

1) Make a list of all the places that I intend to target and set up meetings
2) Create updated powerpoint presentations
3) Make contact with past clients and those that have asked for quotations in the past.

6) Learn to use quick books - yes I still write my quotes in word format!
7) Create a working space that I am excited to go to
8) Gym more and eat less :)
9) Update my website/s
10) Write more on my blogs and try do some internet marketing ... still learning
11) Read more self help books, self guide books, business success story's, internet marketing, inspiring autobiographies, books to make one laugh,fiction and non-fiction You magazine etc etc
12) Create long lasting relationships with those that count, so I can always offer the best!

Thats a good start...

I guess this blog is more a diary of what my personal challenges are and how I over come them! I have found that it is very useful to write things down, so I clear away the cobwebs and clutter!
