The hotel is in the hub of the Cape Town waterfront and once inside the walls you feel like you have left the rest of the world behind and only total luxury consumes you. A bit different from the hustle and bustle of the Cape Town CBD only a couple of 100 meters away!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I got to test the hotel and its facilities out before its launch. So we really did indulge in every fantasy of food and decadence, to experience it all. We stayed in the island hotels suites, over a bridge and the canal. The bathrooms were big enough to have a party inside! Instead we had girlie weekend, myself with one of my close girl friends! We had treatments, facials and massages in the tranquil Spar ... it was ALL available to us!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3 Friends (&lt;a href="http://www.originroasting.co.za"&gt;David Donde and Joel Singer from Origin coffee&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://speakeasyfacilitators.com"&gt;Marisa Sarfatti&lt;/a&gt;) and I booked for the Famous Nobu Restaurant on Saturday night  - owned by Robert De Niro, Meir Tepper, Richard Notar. Already expectations were high having a movie star's name in there!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We started off with   &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Japanese style cocktails&lt;/span&gt; and then moved onto Sake - Japanese rice wine, either served warm or cold, we had both. Sake is delicious and really is good with sushi! Mmmm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We did not know what to order so we asked the manager to recommend us dishes and keep the sushi coming. And he id!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What an unbelievable manager!! Really excellent, thought he was doing it only for us and he must have given the same attention to a few tables!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One after another the &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Sashimi ( (my favorite) &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;came out... Each plate individually seasoned to perfection with &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;lemon grass, basil leaves, chilli, sweet jams, asparagus and much much more, none of the soya and wasbi we soo used to (&amp;love)! &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Only 1 problem was that by the end of the meal I wanted to burst, because I did not say no and just kept on going, think I became a silent bloated fool ... only lucky that I did not pop! Its not worth the over indulgence - really, even if its that good!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;This Restaurant comes highly recommended from a person who loves to eat well!! Still lots to change and make better ...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;acually some peops have had a problem viewing the site. Not sure why, and everyone see's the site differently - I think its cause i am using firefox and people are having problems when using Internet explorer. Some cant open certain pages and others have said that they can see all the sponsors on the side bars are ontop and over lapping eachother. Geez, i need a full time person, just for my hobby!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a few brains that I can pick around me - to find out the why's. But on my laptop it seems to look good, even if I am the one that says so :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;site basically encourages other services/hotels/ guest houses/ back pakers/adventure sports/ museums/ attractions &lt;/span&gt;etc etc etc in the tourist industry to &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;advertise their services&lt;/span&gt; for free on this directory. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;The whole idea is that I wont have to do all the work&lt;/span&gt; - and people from the tourist industry can upload their details themselves.&lt;br /&gt;I check it in the back-end and make sure that its entered into the correct category, then press the approved button.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is still much needed correct and true information needed for services in South Africa. I love dipping my hands into the shells and sand mix. Picking up a hand full of colourful mother of pearl colour shells.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Spreading my fingers so that the light filters through them and all the big pieces fall leaving only the smaller ones. Does ANYONE OUT THERE actually care?&lt;br /&gt;I hear only silence and Therefore in conclusion - NOoooo nobody cares and this is only for &lt;a href="http://www.earthhour.org/"&gt;my world&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;br /&gt;If someone wanted to take a peak I guess then they would be able to access the &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;daily dribble of my life&lt;/span&gt;. Easy Peasy lemon squeesy, there you have it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What happened before Facebook, that was not even so long ago. I remember those care free days when I was the last one to know about anything web related and would not consider buying a laptop, never mind writing &lt;a href="http://www.blogger.com/profile/07686761756517443864"&gt;about myslef&lt;/a&gt; and publishing it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And now even I do it - I change my Facebook status regularly, why? Is it the addiction that takes over and I feel an urge to let others know that my life is going super! I think that us humans are trying to reconnect with people.. only its difficult for some to say, 'lets meet for coffee' its just easier to Skype someone and say 'hi'. Keeping the contact with out having to make an effort or get out of your comfort zone - in front of my computer is safe and keeps my identity real. It's come to even using online means - cause texting is too personal and close to home!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I seem to be bobbing about with this, but guess that's the point in some ways. A &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;swirling power and energy&lt;/span&gt;- that directs this earth naturally.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And yesterday, was one of those days that would turn things right angle / 180degrees, a quick shift. I felt it! The day was not like any other... one just had to smell it out. Not only was my day filled with emotional high's and lows, but my very good friend had a rough one 2 (many have said that she is psychic!).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Of course it all happens for good reason and a lesson will be learned.&lt;br /&gt;Still weird how these things happened.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She left the house, late and got money to pay the house cleaner. After stepping into her car, a bus driving very fast(100km/per hour as described) rammed into her half open front door- and left it hanging unable to close. Shook up and pissed off, she took all details down, went to the police station and then late to work. By 12 am she got a call from a friend in JHB to say that a school colleague had passed away that evening, ah no! By 3pm, after much turmoil at work for the past months, the team was called into a meeting to tell them that none of them will have their contract renewed and they don't have to come back to work from tomorrow!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What a day - all on the same day, not even separated by a day, why yesterday?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;International earth day is drawing near on the 20March 2009 and there is much that you can do to create positive and efficient energy circulation on this planet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;'The centerpiece of Earth Day is the March Equinox, nature's moment of equipoise. It is the creator of that hurting sensation in the body physically and emotionally, and it burns the heart… and makes one want to scream with anguish and pain. It also allows us to see the good in everything and lifts us up and makes the sides of our faces turn up.  A smile can mean so many different things…&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But the smile I am talking about is the one that makes you giggle to yourself by yourself. I wonder if anyone around me can tell the kind of lectures I am listening to.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I get the feeling that he would feel strongly with Freudian theology. Sex is apart of our everyday thinking and actions ... and there is nothing that any of us can do about that! Frustrating ha!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Maybe, I should chill out in this Mutha city, or maybe I should go on a long holiday to somewhere tropical... either would help!I am going with tropical holiday :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I mean really, who wants to work anyway? That's the feeling that most individuals have when they get to work. I understand not wanting to work at work. I have been employed more than I have been the employer. One comes to work and does not really care if customers are happy or not, you just try put out a couple of fires as best you can, then prey the end of the day comes quickly in the interim.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The reason for this post is an experience that seems to be replaying itself with print houses out there and there is ALWAYS some problem!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hypothetical example:&lt;br /&gt;- Sent to be printed on a designated time, &lt;br /&gt;- They fit it in and agree that is will be completed and delivered by 1st thing tomorrow morning!&lt;br /&gt;- The job now sits in their holding cells, cause the invoice needs to be sent - but the computers are down (or something).&lt;br /&gt;When I call to ask what happened,they say that the invoice has not been printed and cant be because computers down and therefor they cant deliver the job.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Who's fault is this, mine?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So now I sit and wait for them to get it together. A whole bundle of exciting projects... starting now, go!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I intend to dive straight back into things and ensure that no place wanting to promote or sell services with scratch cards don't know about the brand 'Scratchcard.co.za'. I figure that I have a competitive advantage having the internet as a marketing medium! So 'how', you ask do I plan to promote the use of scratch cards?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Marketing is not an exact science. Just because I hand out leaflets, flyers, advertise in newspapers or have business meetings with good intent, this does not mean necessarily that I get the order! But I truly believe in positive energy. Somehow, the more you do, there more happens, the more positive energy follows you . Keeping busy with things that gives my life meaning can have a positive effect on my business. Yes, go to the beach, take up pottery and go to the gym on top of setting meetings and doing marketing will create a spin off effect!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What there is to do, so you know where to find and hear about scratch card.co.za &lt;br /&gt;(here is a few and I can always add to the list):&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1) Make a  list of all the places that I intend to target and set up meetings&lt;br /&gt;2) Create updated powerpoint presentations&lt;br /&gt;3) Make contact with past clients and those that have asked for quotations in the past.&lt;br /&gt;4) Email advertising and promotion houses&lt;br /&gt;5) Get up to date with admin&lt;br /&gt;6) Learn to use quick books - yes I still write my quotes in word format!&lt;br /&gt;7) Create a working space that I am excited to go to&lt;br /&gt;8) Gym more and eat less :)&lt;br /&gt;9) Update my website/s&lt;br /&gt;10) Write more on my blogs and try do some internet marketing ... still learning&lt;br /&gt;11) Read more self help books, self guide books, business success story's, internet marketing, inspiring autobiographies, books to make one laugh,fiction and non-fiction You magazine etc etc&lt;br /&gt;12) Create long lasting relationships with those that count, so I can always offer the best!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thats a good start...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I guess this blog is more a diary of what my personal challenges are and how I over come them! I guess because I have not been in business that long that I have established a routine- or what other would you describe business sales flow?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was not sure if the festive season for my business was going to show itself to me? Did my business have what it takes?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;During the year I have done many more quotes than jobs that I have gotten &amp; had many meeting that did not transpire to anything... until now. Someone how all that hard work in the year has come back to me. I am proud that I can see &lt;a href="http://www.scratchcard.co.za"&gt;true potential&lt;/a&gt; for scratch card.co.za! Its slow and step by step things are moving forward! They called me up last week and said that they needed the scratch cards put together urgently by the weekend. Quickly got onto it and put the design together... Jason I can rely on always, and then made the necessary arrangements.&lt;br /&gt;Scratch cards go through a few process before they come out perfect little 10's. People always say the 1st couple of months of getting a business going is always the toughest. But why?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Motivation&lt;br /&gt;- Deciding what comes first?&lt;br /&gt;- Motivation&lt;br /&gt;- Push down and climb back up&lt;br /&gt;- Keep going&lt;br /&gt;- Do whatever it takes!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's so easy to follow the obvious advice given by so many entrepreneurs... or is it?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have learned so much about a new start business in the last few months. More than that, I have been teaching myself a new way to think! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Getting your head around it all...&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From the pre-planning to implementation and finally to making some money is a process. One that takes will, risk and confidence every step of the way. I have been learning so much about myself and how I react to people, how I interpret different situations and also how different my way of doing things are to others. Starting a new business takes a different mind space. It is not only about having a great product. This is fundamental knowledge in the process. Don't I get it...yet :)?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I read a book by Scott Cundall  about 'what not to do in business', very clever and probably very true... but does explain some Very hard hitting facts. Like the number of businesses that are successful first time round. At this early stage is that really what I want to be hearing? No! Anyway, great points Scott but save it till I make it huge and am not in the 60%mark that fail!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Baby Blunders are part of the learning and growing process. But I will attempt to give a simple understanding, to do-it-yourself SEO. After reading and doing my own research(basically, picking the brains of very knowledgeable people), here is what I got. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;There are four main areas&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Link quality: &lt;br /&gt;Link your site to others that will be interested to have your information on their site. Link to content within your own site. Create links to others in your copy when referencing them&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Time: &lt;br /&gt;Some things ... just take time. A couple of months and then some great sites I have asked,' How did they do that??' and it took a couple of years!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Content: &lt;br /&gt;Repetition of key words. Use one common theme per page content. e.g. 'design explanation' and printing explanation' on another, as what is done on &lt;a href="http://www.naturalgravity.co.za"&gt;naturalgravity.co.za&lt;/a&gt;. Must be readable and interesting to the human eye. Do not write for the robots to see you, they won't. Optimize your site by writing interesting content.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;- Page Title Tags: &lt;br /&gt;Correct title tags per page and not for the overall site. I have No idea how to do that... cant DIY, ask your programmer/web designer. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In order for you to do-it-yourself, follow these basic rules and apply it to your website in order to increase ranking and credibility in the search engines.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why would I want more people to view my site, you ask?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1) The more visitors that you have coming to your site, the more credibility the 'robots' (or bots), pic up and therefor increase your page ranking (a cycle).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2) More visitors, more chance of a purchase on line.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3) Attract people that are searching for exactly or very close to, that which your website is offering.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4) If searchers find immediately what they looking for, they will investigate your site and not just exit it immediately. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5) Sales and marketing of your product&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yes, you can Do-It-Yourself search engine optimization. I have been learning so much about myself and my business that it has truly been riveting.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is so much to do and I... the Marketing Gru lol:) , is feeling a bit stuck. I think its not because I don't know what to do. Honestly I think its because I am scared to fail.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now I know that this is not only a feeling that I have. Many people do not even start their own businesses for this reason. The fear of the unknown and what will happen if everything goes wrong.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was up bright and early Sunday morning (Oh yes) and attended a lecture by &lt;a href="http://www.ericedmeades.com/"&gt;Eric Edmeades&lt;/a&gt;. Professional speaking, corporate consulting and persoal coaching.&lt;br /&gt;What an interesting guy and very real, down to earth and friendly. Love humble people whether they have it all or nothing (and pretend to have everything). He told us a bit about his background and how he got into public speaking. Although I new that end of the day he was not only selling himself but a product 2(XL), I truly was not falling asleep for the 1st hour and a half I was there, after which I had a major play-full tennis game on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Amazing how seem people have the energy and enthusiasm to motivate others as a full time job. After working for a boss for many years and somehow never quite felt like I was making a difference, I recently decided to start my own Marketing Company. So many feelings of nervousness and fear, happiness and drive have all taken over me. What a great opportunity to go for my dreams. Thef can happen by people chucking things out and claiming items later. ploy to masses of unsuspecting victims. On Valentines day it is customary to give your loved one or an admirer, secret or public show of affection through gifts. In todays very modernistic society we feel obligated to share in this legend with our loved ones, even if we don't know the actual story behind it. Marketing psychology influences the mass market to buy lavish or simple presents for a special loved one. From flowers to expensive jewelry, heart shape chocolates, roses, teddy bears, holidays away, love cards... anything and everything.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here is the legendary story!!!:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Legenda Aurea has sill no real connection with sentimental love. Tales past down to modern times portray Valentine as a priest who refused a law attributed to Roman Emperor Claudius II, ordering that young men remain single. The Emperor supposedly did this to grow his army, believing that married men did not make for good soldiers. The priest Valentine, however, secretly performed marriage ceremonies for young men. When Claudius found out about this, he had Valentine arrested and thrown in jail. Just going to our local grocer for a coupe of things is no longer possible. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Items jump right out at you, with new and improved formula's, fancy packaging that entices even the toughest of consumers into buying. I cant help but walk up an down the isle in the grocer and ask myself why I don't need that item.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am a marketers dream customer. I do want all the new fancy health crazed foods. I do believe that the new improved toothpaste formula is better than the older one. I want a raizer that cuts twice as well. I want anti aging properties in my face wash. I want the 2 for one special on candels... I may need them someday. Anything that related to the idea of the task. Think of things you enjoy, words you have seen in newspapers or even on the pictures on your walls at home.&lt;br /&gt;- Search online for different logo's in the same industry or look up those logo's that have always stood out in your mind. What do you like and dislike about them?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lastly, if you have time: Make a mood board. This tool to discuss style and emotion before you start with the designs. This is a tool that clients usually understand. The mood board allows you to work through an idea you have with your client. That wy they can see how you came up with the idea in the first place. Having a thorough marketing plan is a no-brainer. The marketing plan will be a critical part of yur business... no clients means no money!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Update your marketing plan&lt;/span&gt; -&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Done on a regular basis whether monthly or yearly. Publicity is an effective and way to achieve a major hype around a specific product. Get the name out there. Each of these target markets are price sensitive in their own right ( this is a very subjective process) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first of the 4 P's I would like to discuss is Product. Wikipedia defines product as, "..anything that can be offered to a market that might satisfy a want or need. However it is much more than just a physical object. It is the complete bundle of benefits or satisfactions that buyers perceive they will obtain if they purchase the product..." (Product (business), 2005) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The four P's may describe a need or want. Looking at a particular productdesign, quality, and features. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The second P, price, is a strategy based on the different target markets and plans for the future.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The third P I am going to discuss is place. According to SSM, "Place deals with the distribution channels by which your prospects will be able to buy and receive your products and services. Clearly without defining the niche prospects, it is impossible to set up the best distribution channels." (Winning Marketing Plans are Client-Centric, 2005. There is a saying, , Location, Location!!! This is an important part of any business and also plays a part in determining the product,price and promotion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The last P I will discuss is promotion.Promotion looks at the type of customers that are being targeted.In todays times we see that consumers want products that are customized, special, full fill individual needs or ideals.
